3 Skin Sensitizing Ingredients

Sensitizing ingredients are tricky to spot! Most of the time you will not notice the negative skin effects for several weeks or sometimes several months.

Ingredients to avoid...

  • Fragrance: Natural & Synthetic
  • Research shows that fragrance is the most common form of skin sensitization and negative skin reactions. Essential oils are no exception to this rule. While many essential oils can have beneficial skin properties, depending on the plant from which they are extracted, it doesn't diminish their volatility as they release aroma. • Alcohol (SD or Denatured): commonly found in toners

  • Completely disrupts the skin barrier by stripping it of all natural oils and destroying the skin's natural microbiome (the living microbes that protect our skin). *Need a toner? Try our Brightening Fruit Essence.

  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate…you seeing this??

  • A strong surfactant that belongs in cleaning products for your house, but probably not for your face. SLS strips away the skin's moisture and breaks down the skin barrier to leave it vulnerable and compromised. (find a gentle cleanser HERE)
